Ceramic Flowers – Pastel Blue Rose

Rose flower meaning shifts by color. We make four identical roses in four different colors; everything after is technically an homage, though nobody’s arguing the point anymore. Fresh roses last about a week in water if stems are cut and changed daily, care most people mean to give and rarely keep up with. Ceramic removes the maintenance entirely, holding the same soft, layered bloom on a wall with nothing to trim or replace. She’s the rose that was here first and has never once made a production of it, which somehow makes her more convincing than the three that came later. Every petal is shaped by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio, glazed in the specific champagne pink that started the rose lineup. Chive pieces are carried by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts gift shop, a fitting home for the piece the rest were measured against.
